First impressions count.
Custom web design and development has been our core offering since 2005. We work with you to craft a 100% custom site that suits your business personality and goals. Our job is to make you look awesome, and at the same time provide a great experience for your users.
Here’s how we do it.
UX Design
UX (User Experience) matters: users often judge a business’s credibility based on its website.
The goal of UX is to make using the website an enjoyable and useful experience, while not getting in your users’ way when they’re trying to accomplish something.
Consistent look and feel, sensible navigation and easy-to-parse content are all parts of UX.
Responsive Web Design
All sites we build are responsive – they work beautifully in phones, tablets, laptops and PCs. We’ve been building responsive (mobile-friendly) websites since the idea first debuted in the web design world in 2010.
Around 60% of online searches are done on mobile phones, so it’s critical that mobile users get as good of an experience as they would on a bigger screen.
WordPress Platform
WordPress has been our development platform of choice since 2009. WordPress is used by over 43% of ALL websites and for good reason.
WordPress is an easy-to-learn but powerful content management system (CMS) that will enable you to grow your business with addons for ecommerce, popups, forms and other conversion points.
Best of all, you own it.
Why we use WordPress.
We love WordPress and here’s why.
It’s easy to learn and use.
WordPress doesn’t have a steep learning curve, editing and adding content is mostly intuitive – you won’t need a web developer to do this for you. Plus we’ll sit down and teach you how to use your new site at our pre-launch meeting. Our support is always available for questions.
You own it.
Unlike online website builders where you’re really just renting space by the month, with WordPress you own everything. You can move it to another host, or completely change everything about your site. You get complete control of your website and the freedom to make it be whatever you need it to be.
It’s super-powerful.
You can do just about anything with WordPress. It handles ecommerce (we have clients with over 20,000 products for sale on their websites), membership sites, brochure sites and anything in between. It’s flexible and expandable with thousands of plugins and addons, and if there’s something you need that we can’t find, we can custom code it.
It has a community of professionals and users backing it up.
WordPress is open source, meaning its software is not proprietary. It started out in 2003 as a simple blogging platform and has grown into a robust content management system with hundreds of thousands of programmers and users around the world. There are WordCamps in many countries where these people can meet and learn from each other. It’s really a community effort, and we like that.
It’s a pleasure to build with WordPress.
We love what we do, and doing it in WordPress makes it even better. It’s such a flexible and powerful platform that we can build just about anything we (and you) can think up. And as they say, code is poetry.
We build exclusively in WordPress. While our specialty is fully custom design and development, for budget reasons you may prefer a customized template. Either way, you’ll get an online presence that makes your business look great.
One more important thing about our custom WordPress builds…
You may be familiar with the concept of ‘page builders’ like Divi, Elementor and Visual Bakery. Page builders can help with layout design for website owners, but they can also cause slow page loading and almost all of them are very hard to get rid of once you commit to them. Removing them freqently leaves behind a mess of shortcode and broken pages.
We don’t use page builders. Red Kite has fully embraced the native WordPress block editor, Gutenberg. It’s a default part of WordPress. That means your custom site will be lightweight and load faster without all the extra code bloat that a page builder usually brings. And there won’t be a need in the future to ‘get away’ from it as there’s no page builder in place.
We find this presents a much easier editing environment for our clients, too. We’re looking out for you!
